Minds Matter, LLC Celebrates Great 2016 Assisting Kansans with Traumatic Brain Injuries
January 3, 2017
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Overland Park, KS: Minds Matter, LLC, Kansas’ largest provider of community based rehabilitation for survivors of a traumatic brain injury, has achieved some remarkable outcomes in 2016. Minds Matter serves the eastern part of Kansas, and has offices in both Overland Park and Topeka.
Throughout 2016, Minds Matter focused on finding employment and meaningful activity for people they worked with so they could reconnect with the communities they live in. Using a holistic approach, teams of cognitive therapists, behavioral therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and transitional living specialists collaborated with consumer-driven goals to find jobs for over 48 Kansans. One of these individuals even went on to start his own business, a mobile bicycle repair service in Topeka and surrounding areas.
At the same time, Minds Matter worked to assist people to get out of rehabilitation hospitals and skilled nursing facilities to return home. This is often a long, drawn out process that includes finding a place to live, making home modifications, and coordination to ensure that supports are in place once a person returns home. From January through December 2016, Minds Matter assisted 12 people to return to the community to independently live, work, and play.
“Our formula for the past twenty five years has been the same. We ask a person what they love to do, and then focus on ‘whatever it takes’ to assist the person to get there.” said Dr. Janet M. Williams, Founder and CEO.
If you know someone who has experienced a brain injury or other condition requiring skilled therapy service such as Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Therapy, please contact a Minds Matter Intake Coordinator at 866-429-6757.
