Behavioral therapy training addresses behaviors such as:
Working with the individual to identify the thoughts that are causing distress, the Behavioral Therapist employs techniques to alter the resulting behavior. By changing these behaviors, therapists work to help individuals continue to live, work and play in their communities and avoid being placed in more restrictive settings. Behavioral Therapists work with a variety of mental illnesses as well as the symptoms of mental illness following a brain injury. Severe mental illness and chronic substance abuse could be treated in conjunction with specialists trained in those specific fields.
