Due to expanding business opportunities, we are in need of registered physical therapist and registered occupational therapist in the Topeka area. We are also looking for physical therapy assistants and occupational therapy assistants in the Lawrence, Topeka, and Overland Park areas. Transitional Living Services Specialist

The TLS Specialist is a teacher, motivator, and coach. It is the responsibility of the TLS Specialist to help the person develop goals and activities that best suit them and will aid them in reaching their ultimate goal of independence and transition back into their community. Transitional Living Services (TLS) Specialists provide in-home training and support services designed to prevent and/or minimize chronic disabilities while restoring the individual to the optimal level of physical, cognitive, and behavioral functions within the context of the person, family, and the community.

Transitional Living Specialist is required to pass a certification exam in the state of Kansas.

Physical Therapist (Both Registered & Assistant)

Our Physical Therapist (PT) Team works to assist the person with a brain injury to reach their highest level of motor functioning and mobility. This may involve intensive work in a variety of areas including standing, sitting, walking, balance, muscle tone, endurance, strength, and coordination.

The PT assesses and treats the areas of strength, range of motion, balance, positioning, walking, or wheelchair mobility. The PT also identifies special equipment that the individual can use and teaches them how to use it. If an individual uses a wheelchair, they may teach them to assemble and use it properly. They may also teach the individual the correct way to get in and out of the wheelchair.

Physical therapy services are provided by a licensed and registered Physical Therapist or by a staff member (Physical Therapist Assistant) that is supervised by a licensed PT in the state of Kansas.

Speech Therapist

Our Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Team is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of communication disorders. Assessment and treatment may include the areas of language (i.e., listening, talking, reading, and writing), cognition (i.e., attention, memory, sequencing, planning, time management, problem solving), motor speech skills, and conversational skills. A screening of hearing acuity is also sometimes performed in the initial assessment. A Speech-Language Pathologist evaluates and treats challenges in the areas of speech production, language expression, comprehension, reading, writing, and even swallowing. A Speech-Language Pathologist works with the consumer to improve attention, memory, abstract reasoning, and decision making. They also work on social skills such as how to appropriately participate in a conversation.

Speech therapy services are provided by a licensed Speech Therapist in the state of Kansas.

Occupational Therapist (Both Registered & Assistant)

Our Occupational Therapist’s (OTs) role is to help the individual regain the physical, perceptual, and cognitive skills needed to perform activities of daily living such as self-care, home maintenance, and community skills. The OT evaluates an individual’s balance, motor skills, posture, and perceptual and cognitive abilities within the context of functional, everyday activities. Adaptive devices maybe recommended by the OT to help the individual achieve the maximum level of independence. OTs often works with other therapists on feeding and swallowing programs. They may also design or obtain special equipment to help the person with specific daily living skills that they cannot do by themselves. Examples of this are large-grip silverware if regular silverware is unsuccessful or long-handled aids to help them dress themselves.

Occupational Therapy services are provided by a licensed and registered Occupational Therapist or by a staff member (Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant) that is supervised by a licensed OT in the state of Kansas

Behavioral Therapist

Our behavioral therapists support the consumer, family, and team in identifying and prioritizing challenging behaviors. Consumers and their families are the catalyst for determining the course of action for what and how behaviors will change. Self-awareness is a key component of our intervention process and the consumer determines the priorities of the treatment efforts. The team focuses on environmental arrangements and positive behavioral supports within the consumer’s community that are meaningful and effective. Our goals are to help the consumer develop specific lifelong compensation strategies for increasing desired behaviors. Some examples of behaviors that we might work with consumers on are: self-awareness, problem solving, processing skills, and social behaviors. In addition, we will help consumers explore and connect with additional resources that might be of assistance.

Behavior Therapy: Prefer a bachelor’s degree or higher but experience in related field would be considered. Behavior Therapy can be provided by an individual under the supervision of the enrolled, qualified provider.

Cognitive Therapist
A degree in rehabilitation or relevant experience is preferred.

Employment Specialist
A degree or relevant experience is preferred.
